Robert - The Final Level

Robert - The Final Level

Over the last few days, I have created many, many assets and programmed all the mechanics needed for the game to work properly! It's been a busy few days, but I am so happy with the outcome so far. I have made a few changes from my original designs which I will detail below:

Start of game - 1/3

The start of the game remained mostly the same. However, I placed the second plank at the bottom of the elevator instead of by the door. This was because if the player fell through the gap trying to get the box, and they took the plank helping them to the ledge, they would be stuck with no way back up. So, I put the plank at the bottom of the elevator so that if this happens, they have a second chance to get back up.

Middle of game - 2/3

The middle of the game only slightly changed too. The only difference was that instead of placing the plank by the locked door, I moved it next to the spring. this is because i thought it was unfair for the player to move the springs into placed only to realise they have to move them back to where they originally were to collect the plank. I think this puzzle works very well, and I am happy with the level of difficulty here. Also, I added a lever next to the heart, which opens all doors. This removes any issues with the player getting stuck in a certain area.

End of game - 3/3

The end of the game changed mroeso than the first two thirds. I removed the crates over the drop, as this would require the plank to be used in many places and posed too many risks for the player getting stuck either side of the crates, so the easiest option was to remove the crates for this section. Another difference is that I added another heart next to the key. before this, I had the heart of the floating platform above the button, but I decided that as the heart is a optional collectable in that case, most people would not get it. Therrefore, I moved it next to the key so that they must collect it.

I am very happy with the game so far, and will now only make minor changes before it is finished!
